Each aggregate does a different job. Base materials compact to carry load. Clear stone drains. Sand fills, levels and beds pipe. Choose the material for what it needs to do, not just its size.
Road base and crushed gravel: Compactable base for driveways, roads, slabs and pavers.
Drain rock and clear crush: Open-graded stone for drainage, perimeter drains and backfill.
Sand: Concrete sand, bedding sand and fill sand.
Pea gravel: Rounded stone for paths, landscaping and play areas.
Fill: General fill for grading and site work.

What's the difference between road base and drain rock?
Road base contains fines that bind and compact into a firm surface. Drain rock is clean stone with no fines, so water passes through.
