A smooth pour starts with a clear order. Here's how to estimate volume, choose a mix and book delivery.

L × W × D : Volume in cubic metres
+5–10% : Recommended overage

Estimate the Volume.
Measure length, width and depth in metres and multiply them. A slab 6 m long, 4 m wide and 100 mm deep needs 6 × 4 × 0.1 = 2.4 m³.
Add 5 to 10% for uneven subgrade, form movement and spillage. Running short mid-pour costs far more than a small surplus.
Choose Strength and Slump.
Strength is measured in megapascals (MPa) at 28 days. Your engineer's drawings will usually specify it. Slump measures how fluid the concrete is. Higher slump flows more easily but should come from admixtures, not water.
Footings and foundations: Commonly 20–25 MPa.
Interior slabs: Commonly 25 MPa.
Exterior flatwork: Commonly 32 MPa, air-entrained.
Structural and marine: As specified by the engineer.
What to Tell Us When You Book.
Site address and access: Include gates, slopes, overhead lines and where the truck can park.
Volume and mix: Cubic metres, strength, slump and any admixtures.
Placement method: Chute, wheelbarrow, pump or bucket.
Date and start time: And how quickly your crew can place each load.
On Pour Day.
Have forms, reinforcing and crew ready before the truck arrives. Standard concrete should be placed within about 90 minutes of batching. Extra time on site may carry a waiting charge.
